58F Chronic Refractory Hip Pain

There is G Minimus Tendinosis and High grade insertional tear with contiguous partial tear of the Vastus Lateralis. This looks similar to the contiguous delaminating type tear we see in athletic pubalgia at the Rectus Abdominis-Adductor Longus aponeurosis.  Is there a common aponeurosis in this location?  I've seen this many times.

  1. Shared with my by Frank Crnkovich, from his hip replacement orthopedic colleague:
"There is continuous fibrous/bone attachment. We take advantage of this with Trochanteric slide. The lateralis attachment keeps the bone from sliding superioly and the glutes keep the bone from moving distally.
Between the two is bone and fibrous tissue. Makes no difference clinically unless hip abduction weakness. If weakness then this is easier to fix. As the gluteus is not retracted and you anchor it down without fail as the vast is helps hold out to length
